Project Overview
Bayanix was appointed as the principal contractor to refurbish and repair the fire escape stairs at 52-54 Gracechurch Street, a commercial property built in the 1930s. Spanning eight floors and a bridge, the project involved structural repairs, stripping, decoration, and ensuring the stairway met modern fire safety regulations. By working closely with the structural engineer, Bayanix delivered a compliant and fully certified structure within the project’s timeline and budget.
This project exemplifies Bayanix’s commitment to revitalising neglected structures and ensuring safety and compliance in complex refurbishment scenarios.
Client Objectives
The client’s primary objective was to restore the existing fire escape stairs, which had not been maintained for years, to a safe and compliant condition. The structure needed to pass all required inspections and meet current fire and evacuation regulations. Bayanix worked collaboratively with the structural engineer to develop a detailed scope of works and ensure the project met all regulatory requirements.
